Bishop Sheldon Fabre’s visit to the Finding Our Roots African American Museum on September 27th was archived in the Bayou Catholic Magazine’s November 2018 Edition.
Bishop Fabre presented the baptismal index of 3,000 slaves who were baptized Catholic into the museum. In addition, the museum inducted Bishop Fabre into the museum. As bishop he serves as a spiritual leader and top administrator for the 125,00 Catholics in Terrebone and Lafourche Parishes, Morgan City and Grand Isle. He is the diocese fourth bishop and first black bishop to hold the position. He was installed as bishop at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral in Houma on October 30th, 2013.
